Edit

ODL is proud to be an ENERGY STAR® stakeholder. Find out more about how ODL Blinds + Glass can help you earn National Green Building Standard (NGBS) points, and increase the energy efficiency of your home.

Manufacturers, ODL can help you obtain National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) certification for your blinds between glass windows and doors with built-in blinds. Please contact us and our codes specialist will provide information to assist you in your NFRC certification. (As a component of a window or door, ODL Blinds + Glass is not eligible for NFRC certification on its own.)

ENERGY STAR® Ratings & Performance Criteria

Make Your Home More Energy Efficient

An energy efficient home doesn't have to compromise beauty or natural light. ODL® Blinds + Glass products by ODL can be used in exterior doors and windows to meet ENERGY STAR® specifications, and increase the energy efficiency of your home. ODL is an ENERGY STAR® stakeholder.

When installed in the proper door or window, select ODL Blinds + Glass products meet regional ENERGY STAR® thermal performance standards as defined by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Natural Resources-Canada (NR-Can). Local and state codes are developed using ENERGY STAR® guidelines but may be more or less stringent.

Energy Efficiency Properties of Doors and Windows

The thermal performance of doors and windows is measured by two properties: resistance to heat flow and resistance to sunlight warmth.

  • Heat flow is expressed by the U-factor value; less heat flow yields a lower U-factor value.
  • Resistance to sunlight warmth is measured by the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC); less sunlight warmth through the window yields a lower SHGC.

ODL Blinds + Glass Ratings

Energy efficiency ratings for ODL Blinds + Glass products vary by door and window construction, size of the unit, and door and window materials.

The ratings of participating entry door manufacturers can be found in the Thermal Performance Database. Contact us for more information about which entry door and doorglass combinations meet ENERGY STAR® requirements. Ratings for windows are not available at this time.
